Dear Dhiraj Sir thanks for the good word. Hopefully, this time will be a historic blow to these non state actors and their Mayee Baap. Writing this piece 12 days before the PAHALGAM attck is a shear coincidence, highlighting the razor edge life a soldier leads in such unpredictable environment. Sultan, this is a very interesting and elegant exposition of your tenure in the valley. I enjoyed reading it and the photographs too. The description of the flight and excitement amongst the faujis, many of whom must have been on their first commercial flight, was nice and a great start to the piece.

It is unfortunate that the horrendous and barbaric acts of violence and terrorism in Kashmir have not abated in so many years. The recent Pahalgam attack on innocent tourists is a grim reminder that terrorism is still ominously hovering in the valley sky like a hawk waiting to swoop down on its prey. The difference this time is that the locals are speaking up and so I feel it could a turning point in the long and arduous counter terror efforts that the Indian security forces have been engaged in for decades.

I always remember you as a mellifluous singer and hope you are keeping up to it!!
